You are purchasing 1 OZ of White Ash.

White Ash has a long history in Japanese ceremonial rituals. it has been used to hold incense sticks in place. Other forms of incense can also be placed on top of White Ash. You can even use this as an incense base. It is re-usable as long as you keep it clean of debris. White Ash is light and fluffy and will not add unnecessary weight to your incense bowls.

White Ash, commonly used with a charcoal disk inside an incense burner or bowl to burn resin incense, stick incense, aromatic wood chips and granules, kneaded incense or pressed incense. Use to keep the charcoals from coming in direct contact with the aromatic material to be burnt. You can also combine with mica plate with a square or round charcoal or briquette.

Ash permits charcoals and makko trails to breathe from all sides for a complete and uniform burn. Ash is ideal for use as a base material to support burning incense sticks, charcoal burning, Kodo ceremony, and makko trail burning. Try using ash to burn cones on. You'll never end up with an unburned chunk of incense like you do with sand. That means less waste. Rope incense can also be laid down horizontally and burned safely on a bed of ash.

Ash is completely reusable and, as you burn incense, adds to itself. This ash is easy to take care of and should provide years of use. Make sure the ash stays ’clean’. Don’t let matches or unburned incense build up in it. Occasionally you should run the ash through a common household flour sifter. This cleans debris from the ash and helps to keep it free flowing.
