Purple Giant Hyssop

You are purchasing 20 Agastache scrophulariifolia seeds**, also known as the purple giant hyssop.

Many people use this plant for its aromatic effects. Its leaves are edible. Hyssop has been noted for centuries in herbal medicine. In addition, there are a number of references in the Bible to plants called "hyssop," although there is considerable controversy regarding the actual identity of these plants. There is little evidence that the plant mentioned in Bible was actually "H. officinalis."

The ancient use of this plant was an insecticide, insect repellent, and pediculicide (lice eradicator). Extracts of plant have been used as a fragrance in soaps and perfumes, and to flavor liqueurs, sauces, puddings, and candies.

Medicinal Uses: The Meskwaki use an infusion of the root as a diuretic, and also use a compound of the plant heads medicinally.

Germination: It is a perennial plant that grows well in sandy loamy soils and requires sunlight for its seeds to germinate. The seeds will germinate in soil between approximately 14 and 31 days, but can germinate in as few as 10 to 14 days in dedicated propagation media such as Oasis Rootcubes, Rapid Rooters, or Grodan Stonewool.
